Putting practice for golf! Doesn’t that sound exciting? Go to the practice green and spend 30 minutes putting that ball in a hole. Shoot me now! But guess that? Putting is half your score! Do you think it is important to work?
If you’re like me … you avoid the practice green. I get bored so fast! It drives me crazy to stand on putts and try to make them. I know this may sound “out of place” as the ball has to go into the hole to make a good score, but I would rather see a drive go LONG and straight than a putt at any time!
But reality says we have to practice our putting to get better golf scores … so go ahead and do it!
I came up with an 8 minute putting routine that I do a couple of times a week, and it has lowered my score by 3 strokes. That is very beautiful! I didn’t even work on my swing to do it. Just a little putting practice and my score and handicap dropped quickly!
No matter how long you have, you need to come up with a routine that you do consistently. It might only be 5 minutes … but it’s better than nothing, and it will surely improve your score and help you avoid too many 3 putts.
The most important things to work on is distance control and short putts. The goal is important too, but if you don’t get him to the hole, that doesn’t matter anyway, right?
So practice being consistent from 30 feet, 20 feet, and then 10 feet with your distance control. Then spend the rest of your time on short putts. Maybe 4-6 feet. Make a bunch of these, because this is where you will earn your money.
