There is a website called http://www.allpoetry.com where people from various walks of life come together and share their poetic views. There are members from different countries regardless of the age that separates them. Simply put, it is a site for poetry lovers who write for the fun of it and allow their deepest thoughts to flow in the form of colorful words. Leafing through it, one thing that strikes a similar thread in many of the poems is pain, a cry of some kind of emptiness.
Despite the great work of art that comes from many talented poets, there is a shade of darkness that overshadows and surrounds the sweetness of life. The group of teenagers who go through a phase they believe in is really misunderstood by the rest. They form poetry about the crazy things they do, like cutting themselves at times that hurt too much. It is as if there are no other forms of punishment for their actions. And there are those who drown in the pool of headaches and broken hearts. They put them into words, even mentioning extreme steps that had almost been taken. Fortunately, there is poetry that prevents them from doing so. Maybe not really, but somehow prevented them.
Some of them with serious illnesses. They still write in hopes of making the most of their unpredictable lives. But who is predictable anyway? Some of them simply question the mysteries of life. Nobody really knows. Probably no one is there to answer them all. And there are those who are still looking for some peace, some solitude, longing for a little more comfort. Some hate themselves for what they are. But the good news is that there are also those who are happy, feeling blessed and letting their words flow in gratitude and praise. Those cheerful lines never fail to lift someone’s spirits.
Varieties of things fill the site. The world of poetry is a representation of real life for people who bring shades of color and tell their stories. The surprising thing is that we can all relate to the things that a person experiences in another corner of the world. It just proves that we are all human feeling and experiencing similar things in different places.
It seems easier to be sad than to be happy, to cause pain than to cure it, to anger people than to appreciate them, to hate than to love, to break rules than to make them, to cry than to laugh, to frown than to love. Smile – the truth behind it is that negative things easily take their toll on us and once our visions are erased, we become blind to the good in life. We forget to dance when the sun stops shining. When a really difficult phase approaches us, we lose our control over the things that once kept us happy. Sometimes unexpected storms knock us down the drains. We would stay there forever if we didn’t pull our strength to wake up and walk again.
Like many of the poets in All Poetry, there could be as many things that unsettle us as hell, some desire to find an answer that may never be found or go through terrible phases of anguish and loss, even regretting that you can. Never make or have a hole in your soul again, a void inside of you that is probably due to needing to find a purpose in life or any other problem that keeps visiting us in small and large measures.
We could be tremendously harmed in a few moments of hardship, but each sunrise is a promise that the sun will shine again. So, don’t forget to dance in the rain when the clouds gather and turn gray.
