Do you put a lot of thought into organizing and storing your jewelry? Do your necklaces, bracelets and all kinds of chains seem to get tangled up in a bunch? Are you always trying to find the two earrings of the pair you plan to wear? If you’re guilty of leaving your jewelry in a knotted mess or are missing many earrings, don’t despair. Here are some great and easy tips for organizing your jewelry.
Tackle boxes are great for storing and organizing your jewelry. They usually have ample space in their many small compartments to store anything from rings to pendants.
All necklaces should be hung if possible, so they don’t become a knotted mess. Some people have used ice trays as well as small boxes or hanging them with an accordion-style wall hanging frame.
Another way is to thread the necklace through a plastic straw and then bring the ends together to close the clasp, thus preventing the chain from tangling with itself or with other chains. You can then place them inside your dresser drawers or inside your jewelry box.
Rings can be organized and stored in ring trees or in a pretty fabric-covered box, as well as in a jewelry box compartment.
Tie hangers can be interesting displays for hanging bracelets, necklaces, and pendants, as well as watches and rings.
Keep both earrings of a pair together so neither gets lost, but stays together. The way I would do this is to attach the earrings by sliding one post from one earring into the loop on the back of the other earring, then slide the back over the earring that is slipping into the first. Please note that this will only work with butterfly back earrings.
With hoop earrings, you can put the earrings together by placing the open hoop into the closed hoop and securing the clasp, thus keeping each of the sets together to prevent loss.
You can also staple a piece of cross-stitch fabric or cut window screen to fit the back of an antique frame. Put your earring into the holes already provided and put the earring back on the other side. This method also works great for hook earrings.
Different colored plastic ice cube trays are useful for storing small pieces of jewelry such as rings, earrings, and pendants. The ice cube trays are stackable and fit in most drawers.
A great idea for organizing jewelry is to use the roll-up type of makeup bag; They usually have several different pockets, some with zipper closure and others with Velcro closure. These are useful when traveling with your jewelry.
Hardware trays, those little pop-top trays that you can buy nails and screws in, make great jewelry organizers that you can see through. Some of them also come in multi-tray packs, which would give you even more space to store your jewelry.
Utility trays for sorting cutlery are also helpful as there are several separate compartments for your use. Small desk organizers and special dresser drawer organizers would also work.
