During my first round of P90X I lost almost 30 pounds and then in the first half of round 2 my weight loss leveled off and I didn’t lose much weight which was a bit frustrating. But by the end of my second round, I had lost another 20 pounds. Why the fluctuation? Because the difference? Why was the weight loss not steady and consistent? since my diet and exercise were constant and consistent? The reason is because this is the body’s natural reaction to nutrition, supplements, and training.
It’s very common for people to contact me asking why they lost a ton of weight in the first month, but now they’ve seen the weight loss slow down, maybe even stop. Some people go there the first few weeks without even seeing the scale budget, while others lose a pound a day. Let me reassure you that this is completely normal. What you need to focus on is the end goal, not the daily progress. When you’re focused and determined to stick with this for the long haul, the results will take care of themselves. I encourage those who are experiencing those “slow” periods in their weight loss to realize that your body is simultaneously changing and adjusting to your nutrition, the different supplements you are using, and the different workouts you are giving it. giving. Stay focused on what you can do each day that will help you achieve your desired results, and don’t get caught up in weight loss fluctuations. Eventually, you will notice that your body will begin to overcome that hump and you will be closer to your goal.
It’s really easy to focus on what the scale is saying, but you can’t control the rate at which you lose weight. What you need to do is stay focused on what you CAN control, which is what you eat, how much you rest, whether or not you push the game and go through your workouts, and how hard you push yourself during those workouts. These are the only things you can control. Your body will do what it wants at the rate it wants. There are so many factors that come into play when it comes to losing weight that it’s not even fun. You have your gender, genetics, hormones, etc. All of these things can affect the rate at which you lose weight. Some weeks you will see big changes and other weeks you may only see small changes. This is just part of a journey… Every day you must tell yourself that you will do everything possible to get closer to your goal. Let your body do its thing and you do yours.
