The truth is, much of the popular information out there on how to turn your CONTENT into cash is dead wrong… and more often than not, it’s also advice from people who don’t practice what they preach.

You have to have a very specific and very well thought out strategy BEFORE you start. For example, one of the biggest considerations when it comes to content marketing traffic is the actual NICHE you are writing in or writing about. In 2009, for example, I generated over 1 MILLION new readers in one niche, using ONE article directory alone. The fact is though, I knew it was a high volume niche with tons and tons of potential eyes available, and my success had LESS to do with me and more to do with the actual topic.
DID YOU KNOW, though… that some of the highest volume niches have the WORST conversion rates?
It is true. For example, men’s health, dating, human sexuality, and those kinds of sexy, lewd niches have TONS and tons of available traffic. But they often turn the worst into subscribers and sales…because people are more likely to look at storefronts for information, rather than be serious about buying a product, service, or offer. Of course, it doesn’t mean that you can’t make a lot of money in those niches, because you CAN, it just means that the volume of traffic can be tempting… but misleading when it comes to actual earnings.
My best advice?
See where YOUR gifts are. Write about the things you are MOST passionate about, most interested in, and simply support them with high-value offers that you can present to your readers. It is actually MUCH easier for YOU to sell 10 $1000 a month coaching or tutoring programs, than it is to sell 200 $47 e-books. This is why I recommend, if you are NOT an affiliate marker, spend less time getting massive amounts of traffic and instead… focus on very QUALIFIED traffic that is more likely to be able, willing and ready to spend real money. money on the products and services you have to offer. (it’s much more FUN and rewarding too… 🙂
