Vail, the largest single-mountain ski resort in the United States, is tailor-made for ski vacations, offering a variety of activities for beginning, intermediate, and expert skiers.
One of the best ski resorts in the US, Vail is a wonderful place to enjoy your vacation. Located in Colorado, it is the largest mountain ski resort in the country. With seven bowls and one open field, the complex provides a world-class experience, from sports to activities, entertainment and lodging. For skiers looking for the best destinations in the world, Vail is a must-visit destination.
Vail has some similarities with the main ski resorts in Europe. Looking like a quaint old town at first glance, the resort is filled with ski shops, high-end fashion stores, and fine-dining restaurants where you can grab a quick bite. Like European resorts, it covers a wide expanse, with three different areas of the mountain, three terrain parks, seven bowls, and more than 5,000 acres of free-roaming terrain.
The resort is tailor-made for ski holidays, with a plethora of activities for all ages, both on and off the slopes. The resort has excellent ski slopes for all levels. Vail Mountain has the fastest single-mountain speed quads in the United States. Lift status signs are located at key points on the mountain to help skiers avoid long lift lines.
Much of the terrain is beginner or intermediate level. These trails tend to be open and unintimidating, with state-of-the-art artificial snow to keep the trails well covered. The tree line is high, in fact much higher than the Alps, so the slopes are cut through pleasant forests. The key access route up the mountain out of the city is the Lionshead Cable Car, built in 1996 at a multi-million dollar investment.
A host of off-slope activities available at the resort include outdoor heated swimming pools, hot tubs, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, squash courts, indoor volleyball and basketball courts. Beginners can find state-of-the-art ski lesson programs. As soon as you have a little confidence, you can practice in the beginner’s ski area. Intermediate skiers can safely tackle some of the easier slopes in the Back Bowls.
The terrain park at Eagles Nest at the top of Vail Mountain is accessible at night via the Lionshead Gondola. Various snowboard parks and features are also dotted around the mountain. Hot Dog Park has metal and wooden slides, while Beaver Creek’s Strickline Snowboard Park is nestled among the trees on natural wooded terrain. Golden Peak Park is Colorado’s only double barrel super pipe.
The vastness of the Vail resort makes skiing solo a bad idea, so make sure you have at least one companion. Getting around the vast complex is relatively easy because 32 mostly high-speed elevators. Sun Down, Sun Up, China and Siberia Bowls together add up to over 3,500 acres offering mostly expert skiing. Some lifts offer a good mix for all skill levels, a perfect setup for families or groups of different skiing skill levels.
You can enjoy an exciting ski vacation rental in Vail, located in Colorado in the United States. The resort offers over 5,000 skiable acres of terrain for skiers of all skill levels and Vail Village offers amazing food and entertainment to maximize your enjoyment when you’re off the slopes.
